Summer Fun

Wow, I can't believe its already been over a month since my last post. We have been so super busy this summer and it seems like time is just flying by. Bowen is now 19 months, which just baffles me and Avery is 3 1/2. We have been staying busy with our friends and went on vacation to Florida in June. Avery has been spending some weekends at Mimi and Papa's house, attended Princess Dance Camp and Summer Camp at F.U. Methodist Church. In just a few weeks, regular preschool will start again and this year Bowen gets to go. He was sooooo sad every time I dropped Avery off at summer camp....he just cried and screamed. He really wanted to go and this Fall he will get his chance!

We got out today and it was just so hot that we turned on the sprinkler for some relief. Here are some pictures from our evening.

Family Vacation '09 / Part I

Well, we just returned from our vacation to Marco Island, FL on Saturday and we had a great time! The little town was adorable and the beaches were white sand! We had a wonderful condo that we shared with Denver's mom and dad and also his sister and her family. Here is a view from our condo. The kids really had fun on the beach, but the best part was building sand castles. I'm not sure who had more fun, the kids or daddy! We spent some time on the beach, but mostly we hung out by the pool. Here is Avery jumping off the side to daddy......she really loved the pool! And while we were there, Avery figured out how to swim.....it was hilarious....we just looked up one day and she was swimming under water with no problem. Doing flips, hand stands, and diving down for treasures. One day, we took a catamaran sail over to "Seashell Island". It was just a small island with lots of seashells to pick up and we also saw some crazy little crabs while we were there too. Here is Avery warming up to the crab and saying hello.

That's part I of our vacation......look for part II.

Forest Park Miniature Train

We recently went on a train ride through Trinity Park in Fort Worth with our MECPTA friends. Here are some pictures from our trip. As you can see, the kids really had a great time riding the train. Bowen is really starting to show his "boy" side since he is really interested in cars and trains. Everytime Thomas the Train comes on tv, he gets so excited!

The park is just beautiful and I got to really use my new camera to get some great shots.

This is a shot of a very narrow bridge that we go over during the ride.

Swimming Hole

It's finally summer so we headed down to our swimming hole last week for the first time and the kids loved it. Avery has already been swimming at my gym for lessons and I have taken Bowen swimming there a few times, but he hated it. I guess that the indoor pool water was just too cold, because he loved the water at our neighborhood pool. He was even jumping to me in the water, which I thought would never happen. Anyway, here are a few pictures......enjoy!

A new camera!

I got a new Camera ..... or maybe I should call it an obsession! It is just magical and wonderful....I have been taking pictures since I got it. It's a Canon XSI which was recommended to me by some wonderful photographers as a good starter SLR. Anyway, enough of all that....check out the pictures.

Whats been going on lately?

What's been going on lately you ask? Well, we've been going on some play dates with some of our MECPTA friends, playing at the playground after school with our preschool friends and still doing swim lessons twice a week with Avery. Bowen recently went swimming as well with us at the gym, but he really didn't like it! I can't believe it! He clung to me like a scared bug!

We are also finishing up the school year with only a few days left of Avery's preschool (sniff, sniff!). She also had her Spring Program last week as a butterfly.

She only had one line to say, but she was sharing the microphone (and line) with 2 other kids. They were supposed to all three say the lines together, but one boy grabbed the mic and said the lines himself. Avery was so sad. She just looked at me in the audience and said "I thought I was going to say that in the microphone?". None the less, they had fun and sang some cute songs.

I made Avery's butterfly antennas from a headband that I found at Michaels. It was pretty funny before and Bowen had to try it on. I know I shouldn't do that to him, but it was just too funny!
He had fun wearing them! Speaking of Bowen, he did a miraculous thing this week! He went poo-poo in the potty! Yeah! He has been making it pretty obvious when he is needing to go, so I just sat him up there to see what would happen and wahlah! I was shocked and he was so proud. Yes, that's right.....I took a picture of his first poo in the potty! He will love it when he gets older!

Learning to swim

Avery was sooooo excited when I told her she was having swim lessons today! She was practically jumping in the water once we got there. We had to wait on our coach and decided to take a photo op of her new swim suit before she got in.

We are taking lessons at Lifetime and I have to say that we had a great time and I think she is really going to learn something this year. We have taken classes in the past where they mostly played, but I think that this class is actually going to teach her some skills.

Her coach was really fun and all the kids just thought he was hilarious! Here is a picture of Avery attempting to float on her back. All of the kids in her class were better swimmers than Avery, so I think this is going to challenge her in a good way.
We'll update in a few weeks to let you know the progress. Hopefully she will be swimming under water for a few seconds in the near future.
